Our Story
A Small Shop with Big Respect for Timber
Thornbrook Woodturning began at a single lathe in a garden shed. Twenty years on we are a full custom woodwork studio — and we still treat every board like it matters.
Meet the Maker
Guided by Hands, Not Hurry
Our founder, Elias Thornbrook, learned joinery restoring farmhouse kitchens alongside his grandfather. That slow, careful way of working became the shop's rule: measure twice, cut once, and never let a piece leave that you would not put in your own home.
Today our team of six — joiners, a finisher, and two turners — takes on a limited number of commissions each season so every client gets our full attention.
- Twenty years of joinery, turning and restoration practice.
- Salvaged and certified timber, finished with natural oils.
- One point of contact from first sketch to final fitting.
How We Work
Slow by Choice, Precise by Habit
Every project starts with a conversation and a walk through your space. We sketch, sample timbers, and agree a fixed price before a single cut is made. During the build you get photo updates from the bench — and a workshop visit is always welcome.
When the piece is installed or delivered, we walk it with you, show you how to care for it, and back it with a five-year craftsmanship warranty.
